"All I ever wanted to do was lose weight and lose it fast... I did not realize I was in the wrong mind set... My [BeniComp] coach set me on track and I have been so much better off."
What wellness obstacles did you face before working with a coach from BeniComp® Advantage?
I faced a few obstacles before working with a BeniComp® Advantage coach. One of them was I was always looking for a quick fix. All I ever wanted to do was lose weight and lose it fast. I wanted to try every new diet trend that was out there. I would try them and give up after a few months. I did not realize I was in the wrong mind set. I finally was told that I need to think about being healthy and then the weight loss will come. I was told I did not gain my weight overnight and I would not lose it overnight either. I finally realized if I did not change my mind set, then I was always going to fail and make my health worse. My coach set me on track and I have been so much better off. The other obstacle I overcame was not knowing where to start my process of becoming healthier. My coach sent me links to help me out. I read up on the links and then did my own
research. Once I was ready, I picked my start date and prepared up until that day. When start day rolled around, I was full of knowledge and ready to go.
What lifestyle changes have you made since speaking with a coach?
I now only drink water all the time. I may have a cup of coffee sometimes. I make sure I get at least 8 hours of sleep. I work out 4 times a week. I ride my bike to and from work each day. I eat loads more fruit and vegetables and lean meat. I reward myself with a treat of some kind at the end of the week. I don’t use or buy any processed food, artificial sugar, or any other stuff not good for me.
What were the two most influential factors in your success?
My family and realizing I am only a human are my most influential factors for my success. I want to live longer to see my children grow. I want my children to lead a healthy lifestyle. They cannot lead a healthy lifestyle if they are not taught and shown how to do it. They need to have a role model and I am the best person for that job.
Realizing I am only human was beneficial for my success. I am bound to have set backs and days where I feel lazy or get sick. I cannot be perfect at everything. I needed to know if I had a bad day I could start all over tomorrow. If I had a cheat meal earlier then intended that the next meal would be better. This helped me stay on track and not give up. Everyone makes mistakes, I just had to learn from them and correct them.
How has your success in health and wellness affected other areas of your life?
I am doing so great. I have lost over 30 pounds since June 2014. I have so much more energy. I don’t feel so sluggish during the day or after a meal. I can run around with my kids and not get tired out. I can ride my bike further and longer than before. I don’t feel so depressed at times and most of all I am so happy with myself. I am finally comfortable being me. I can look in the mirror and not see myself as ugly, fat and unhealthy. I look in the mirror and see a beautiful, happy, healthy mother of three.
