Healthy Living is more than just physical!

Mental and physical health are both important components of your overall health. Mental health includes emotional, psychological, and social well being. It affects how we think, feel and act. Mental health can also affect our risk for chronic physical health problems such as diabetes and heart disease.

It is important to remember that mental health changes over time, just as physical. For example, if somebody is working long hours or having economic hardships, they might have poor mental health for that time being. More than 50% of people will be diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point in their lifetime, says CDC. For more information on mental health, feel free to read this article.

Below we have listed ways to improve your mental health and as always, talk to somebody if you need more assistance.

3 Tips to Improve your Mental Health:

1. Write it down!

Feeling anxious and don’t know why? Write it down! Jotting down your thoughts when you are feeling overwhelmed can help you better understand the thoughts that are leading your narrative.
2. Get outside!

Feeling blue? B vitamins play an important role in brain health. Want to learn more about vitamins and minerals that can improve your mental and physical health? Schedule an appointment with a health coach to get personalized recommendations
3. Stay busy with healthy habits!

The brain relies on a balance of chemicals. Consuming alcohol can interfere with these and contribute to feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression. If you feel like you need some stress relief try these activities instead: turn on a favorite movie, call a friend, go volunteer, try a new recipe, start a puzzle.
